Welwyn A2B Taxis provides wheelchair accessible vehicles for passengers who travel in their wheelchair, across Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield and the rest of Hertfordshire. Our drivers are trained to load and secure wheelchairs safely, and to give you the time and help you need.
Our accessible vehicles
Our wheelchair accessible vehicles have a ramp or lift for boarding, and restraints to secure the wheelchair and passenger during the journey. There is space for a companion or carer to travel alongside you.
Where we take you
- Hospital and GP appointments, including the QEII Hospital in Welwyn Garden City and Lister Hospital in Stevenage
- Day centres, care homes and social visits
- Stations and airports
- Shopping, leisure and evenings out
- Regular journeys to school, college or work
No extra charge
We charge the same fare for a wheelchair user as for any other passenger making the same journey. Assistance dogs are always carried at no extra charge.
Booking an accessible taxi
Because we have a limited number of accessible vehicles, please book as far ahead as you can, especially for hospital appointments with fixed times. When you book, tell us:
- Whether you will stay in your wheelchair for the journey
- The type of chair, manual or powered, and roughly how large and heavy it is
- Whether anyone will be travelling with you
- Anything else that will help us get it right, such as steps at the pickup address
